The annual grand ceremony of the Saudi Royal Cup in Japan was held at the Tokyo Racecourse. The eleventh edition witnessed the distinguished presence of Eng. Abdullah Al-Asiri, Secretary General of the Equestrian Authority; Mr. Mohammed Al-Kaltham, Deputy Secretary General; and Mr. Anas Al-Nuwaiser, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Japan. The event was also attended by a number of diplomats and representatives from various relevant sectors.

During the ceremony, Eng. Abdullah Al-Asiri presented the trophy to the first-place winner, jockey Rusei Sakai, expressing his pride in this participation, which reflects the deep sporting ties between the Kingdom and Japan. He emphasized the Equestrian Authority’s commitment to strengthening its global presence, noting that the ceremony—initiated by the late King Abdullah—stands as a testament to the strong diplomatic relations between the Kingdom and Japan.

He added that this event is a celebration of cultural and sporting exchange, expressing hope that more such events will be hosted in Riyadh. The Equestrian Authority’s participation in this occasion comes as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance international cooperation in the equestrian field and exchange expertise, contributing to the sector’s development and elevating its standing both locally and globally.
