166 Saudi horses participating in the fourth edition of the Saudi World Cup race and its accompanying runs have settled inside the horse quarry in Janadriyah since last Thursday.

The Horse Racing Club - the organizer of the tournament - closed its doors and the surrounding area to the movement of other horses until the end of the upcoming races on the 24th and 25th of February.

It was also decided to stop training at King Abdul Aziz Square in Riyadh, for non-horses participating in international races, as a precautionary measure by the club. To provide the greatest measure of protection and safety for competing horses.

The Saudi horses, which are stable in the quarry, represent the first and largest batch of horses participating in the most expensive tournament in the world, as the second batch (8 horses) will arrive on the fifteenth of this month, coming from the United States of America.

The horses coming from Japan (20 horses) arrive on the seventeenth, and the next day the British horses (13 horses) arrive from London, in addition to the horses coming from Europe (15 horses) on the same day.

As for the participating horses from Qatar (6 horses), they will arrive on the twentieth of the month, provided that the remaining horses from the Emirates (9 horses), Bahrain (7 horses), and Oman (one horse) will arrive by the twenty-first day of the month.

The director of the Saudi World Cup Quarry, Patrick McQueen, stated that the quarry management has allocated stables for horses coming from Middle Eastern countries on the eastern side of the quarry, while horses coming from Europe, America, Japan and others will be in the stables on the western side.

He explained that the transfer of horses participating in international races to the founder's field and back from it will be under the supervision of the quarry and a team of observers from the International Federation of Horse Racing (I R B), and in the presence of the team accompanying each horse.

McQueen emphasized that no visitor would be allowed to attend the horse stables except for those related to that, and under strict supervision. To maintain the health and safety of the horses, all stables were sterilized and prepared for the participating horses in accordance with international rules.

The Saudi horse quarry was opened in 2020 AD with the launch of the first edition of the Saudi Cup, according to the highest standards of health safety for horses in the world, and in 2021 AD the management of the Horse Racing Club increased the number of stables from 9 to 18 stables.
