About the Authority

Equestrianism is not merely a sport practiced on horseback; it is also a profound embodiment of history, civilization, and an authentic Arab heritage. In Saudi Arabia, equestrianism and horses are deeply intertwined with every aspect of society, from the founding kings to the everyday citizen. It is a historical legacy rooted in the land and the spirit of the Saudi people.

This rich heritage inspired the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Prime Minister, may God preserve them, to issue a decree in April 2020 establishing the “Equestrian Authority.” This initiative seeks to collaborate with relevant entities to develop the equestrian sector in the Kingdom, reflecting its cultural significance and strong ties to national heritage and traditions. The aim is to achieve the desired sporting, cultural, social, and economic benefits while enhancing Saudi Arabia’s international standing in various equestrian fields.
